So it is safe to say that I'm pretty terrible at keeping my blog up-to-date. However, I refuse to give up.
Here's the scoop from Thanksgiving through New Years.
Thanksgiving:
The Anderson's came to town. We had a blast (as usual). Marsha took charge of planning and preparing a large majority of the Thanksgiving dinner. Jeremy and I brought our famous Strawberry Yogurt Jello, and a very full salad. I'm so glad I live next door to Marsha, she's so talented at cooking, baking, sewing, interior design, fashion - you name it she's amazing - so I really should take advantage of our neighborliness.
Robert was so excited about everyone's Christmas presents he had everyone open their presents early. I got a Pfaff sewing machine!!!! It is simply amazing; and I'm loving sewing with it. So far I've made some catnip kitty toys for Gus and Watson; Christmas Stockings for Jeremy and I; and half a quilt (this is still a work in progress). We also got the pretty little Dyson pet vacuum I've had my eye on! This baby works like a charm, and makes me look forward to my vacuuming day each week.
Birthday:
I also celebrated my 23rd Birthday. I'm not sure how I feel about this yet; I know that I'm young, but I still feel like life is moving by so quickly. While I look forward to being a cute little old couple, I want to enjoy the years of getting there - and it just feels like it is going too fast. Any suggestions for slowing down time?
The Anderson's got me a stunning pair of diamond earrings. I'm not sure what I've done to be so spoiled this year - its actually been a little overwhelming with how generous they are and all. I appreciate all the beautiful gifts that I've received this year and will surely put them to good use in becoming a better house-wife, to develop my sewing talents, and to dress-up more often (or at the very least feel more glamorous in my pjs).
Jeremy, oh my Jeremy, knows me so well. He got me a beautiful pearl and diamond necklace! While I won't deny that diamonds are a girls best friend, I really fancy pearls - so to combine the two was a very thoughtful move on Jeremy's part. How did I get so lucky?!
Christmas:
Since Jeremy's still working at Best Buy, we aren't allowed to leave for the holiday's, so the Anderson's came to us. While you'd think that there weren't any more presents to open on Christmas, you're wrong. We all still had to give the Anderson's their presents. I engraved a mirror with the Portland, Oregon LDS temple on it for them (sorry I forgot to take a picture of it). We also purchased a t.v. wall mount for them as well. Marsha made them a beautiful quilt with a Weimeraner applique on it - I can only hope to get as good and creative at sewing as she is.
Christmas was also fun because I had to think incredibly hard about what I wanted to get Jeremy - since he's kind of a techie guy and he works at Best Buy he can get pretty much whatever he wants for a better price than I can. He hardly has any interests outside of techie things that he doesn't already own (basketball hoop, golf clubs, weight set) I mean seriously, I was baffled for a while, but I finally figured it out. He loves LOTR and I found an awesome 15 disc extended edition collection of the LOTR blu-ray discs. I was so excited - until he decided he was going to buy the non-extended edition dvds to get a discount on going to see The Hobbit - Christmas. was. ruined. But I was determined, and I decided that he would NEVER. EVER. buy a certain nerdy game with a needlessly bad reputation (Dungeons and Dragons *cough cough*) for himself. I was ecstatic! Rightfully so. Jeremy was both surprised and excited.
We got a couple other games, and several book series from all of our other family members, so it turned out to be a pretty "nerdy" Christmas for us this year, and we LOVED every minute of it.
New Years:
It has also been determined that Jeremy does not ever want to go dancing ever again. There was a New Years Eve bash that his friends were going to and we got invited - I thought it sounded fun (especially since we didn't have any plans), but alas, Jeremy's a home-body and refused to go. We Skyped with my grandparents, on my father's side instead. This was the first time they "met" Jeremy, so it was pretty fun. We watched the ball drop at midnight, and did the New Year's kiss, and then watched an episode of "Fraiser" and an episode of "That 70's Show". Then it was off to bed for us. Overall it was pretty uneventful, but we started our New Year together, and are very much looking forward to what this year has in store!
